Crowns

The Crown is a type of fixed prosthesis used for the purpose of partially or completely covering a tooth fractured or damaged by caries and even to reposition a malpositioned tooth or teeth in the dental arch. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment of the teeth.

A crown can also be placed on an implant, giving it the shape and structure similar to the natural tooth, so that it can perform its functions. The Porcelain or ceramic crowns can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. The materials used in the confection of crowns are alloys of precious or non precious metal, acrylic, and porcelain.

The crowns made in alloys, are generally stronger than porcelain and are recommended for back teeth. More recently, with the advance of the porcelain industry, we can use pure porcelain (zirconia) even in the posterior teeth that in the past had to be made in gold or metallic alloys in which aesthetic point of view leave a lot to be desired.

Nowadays we can safely offer to patients a very good treatment, meeting all aesthetic demands which the patient desires.
